Who wouldn't love to have a 'Rustic Garden' just a few doors down?
Look at my view just across the lot from the back PORCH courtyard. The 'Rustic Garden' is in full swing for summer~
Then, walk over and inside - oh, the fresh colors, gorgeous and interesting displays, vibrant plantings and settings - what a treat!
I admire how they've turned a piece of 'parking lot' into an oasis.
The dahlias had just arrived when I was there.
Looking around, there's something to admire everywhere you turn.
Herbs....you get a full sensory experience here: color, scent, and sound.
A favorite of mine: mixed white/blue lobelia baskets.
Urns!
I've never seen this color of coleus~
Walk further in and experience the shade garden. Madeleine Peyroux is softly playing in the background - can it get much better?

September at The PORCH & Atelier
Seasonal changes are all around today~
The Atelier entrance urns are bursting with bright yellow mums; we've gotten lots of comments - thank you. What says fall like a mum plant?
The PORCH courtyard is shaping up. Just when I thought I was paring down for winter out there, I found some great stuff to bring in - like this workbench.
The wire vine is happy, and I'm sorry to say that we have to watch for frost warnings here and be ready to bring them in. They really are happier outdoors, so I'll push it.

The Sunday Load 8-14-11
What a gorgeous day for any excuse to be out and about! Junking finds made it all the better~
We filled up again - want to see some of this stuff?
Shield-shape beveled mirror, red oval mirror, and yes: his and hers truck mirrors~
A great old shipping box (marked Sweden). Look at those canvas handles! She'll benefit from a cleaning and then glaze tuneup.
Linens, mink pillow, and canvas umbrella (with pink butterflies)
Beautiful symmetry to admire~
Restyling the Atelier started last week - the industrial staircase is now in the west window.
Part of that Sunday load included an old heavy scale (yes, there was a big scale in the load) - note the copper detail.
For now, she's in the back courtyard. Her rusty iron wheel base is a great blend with our August-into-Fall look out there~
There's a subtle seasonal change happening - have you noticed? It's getting dark a little earlier in the evening, and there's morning dew. In changing up some of the plantings out there, I've been having fun with 'Karalee Petite Pink'. Note how it looks with the Bronze Carolina sweet potato vine~
Karalee is a natural beauty - boasting airy, grassy wands with petite flowers that hover and dip above. They'll be surrounded soon with Bronze Carolina~
Simple. One of my favorite finds yesterday - a basket of kindling. At one time, a downed tree branch, now cut and arranged in an old bushel basket. It fits well into the seasonal changes happening here~

Simple enough #32
We love nature and gardening at The PORCH & Atelier~
It combines well with love of the old stuff~
Sometimes you find something that's just fun~ Vegetable packs are cheap, and I love to mix them among the flowers~
I think you love the look of cabbage plants, too --- those pretty gray/green, sturdy leaves. Who knows if we'll actually ever eat the cabbage, I'll let you know~
The cabbage is pretty in the gray urn with petite licorice~
Hey! How did this little natural guy sneak in? My 9mo old grandson, Owen~
More petite licorice
