The Sunday Load 9-5-10

My favorite thing to do? Go junking for YOU!I never know what I'll find....and that makes for alot of surprises here.
Of course, I'm always admiring some little thing I find - like making a big deal out of this cardboard pencil box - with slate pencils inside, of course. The graphic font is adorable~
Yes, that's the top of a big old cupboard. The polka dot box holds dozens of old rolled prints - you'll just have to trust me on that~ Love a striped suitcase, don't you?

Old dropleaf occasional table and provincial-style rush seat chair - once again, just trust me~

OK, old piano bench and the smalls as they come out of the boxes and bags.

I just had to get the apple crock, being that it's September--don't you think?

That big old cupboard. Not fancy, but after a little magic, she'll be at home here. Side note: when we were carrying her in the Atelier door on Sunday, we had several offers of help - pretty nice! Maybe I could time all of my unloading for when nice, strong people are around?

OK. Had to have it, and someone here will really appreciate it.

Straight out of a movie scene to you. A gal would look better in it, anyway. I love how we take a new look at vintage clothing~Ooh - what's that piece?

Vintage heavy silk jacket

Besides style, you can't help but admire the fabrics and sewing talent involved in vintage clothing - and you know there's a story here. At first look, you think apron, but - it's a beautifully made overskirt. Oh, talk about it completing the right outfit~
We had a great September Market, and we're off and ready for more. Aren't we lucky to spend our days with this stuff? Let your imagination run today, TERESA

Summer and Road Trips~

~What a great week! Summer is clipping along, and if I'm going to take some road trips, I'd better get going~ It's fun to get to new places, and find my kind of junk. Drive country roads under sunny blue skies, and get great stuff, too!

Everything has been brought into the shop, so I'll get more photos today~
You can see that some of it is pretty unique. Lemon yellow velvet with ornate iron - I'm liking it.

Here's the copper Laun-dry-ette from Sunday's load. Alot of you were intrigued by it~

It's sheer size, condition and qualities make a statement. $69.

Off to the Atelier day, anxious to work on everything found in the country this week~ TERESA

Didn't you just have......

.....a sofa? It's worth mentioning, because it happens here ~
We see it alot - someone finds the 'perfect piece', but runs to check what the other shops have before buying. That's what shopping is all about - the fun of searching, comparing, and making sure it's exactly what you want.....big decisions, for sure~
But, come back 45 mins later, and the piece may be gone - 'poof''~

Shopping secondhand is a unique experience. If it's just what you're looking for, well....most of this stuff is one of a kind, and we feel bad when you're disappointed~ Luckily, we're always finding more for you!
Side note: the 1920's rolled arm sofa was in primo condition, with 1960's beautiful, soft blue/green upholstery, and the addition of a new full down seat cushion (and five coordinating pillows, not shown).

We love it when you share~

Pretty nice, isn't it? Taking the time to share photos of PORCH & Atelier finds - once they're 'at home'?Julie was here a couple weeks ago, and I was pleasantly surprised when she sent photos of her finds - at home. The first, this galvanized planter with a fleur-de-lis topped cage. She's placed it in her front porch window and says it fits perfectly, like it was made for it. And, WE get to see the view she has from her screen porch. Julie said they like to spend summer evenings out there - we can see why~

Oh, on this photo we can only take credit for the blue silk pillow. You can tell its color is perfect with her chair and cushion, and its down-comfiness is perfect for relaxing there~

Brenda has been with us at the shop since day one (famous for her smile and the chenille-embellished baby clothing). She is also Annies Portrait Studio, and sent this shot of the French doors and column she found here, now used as staging props in her studio~

Fun for us to see our pieces in action - thank you!

How to display brooches~

A velvet chair. Lots of rhinestone brooches.
Eh voila! What a pairing~The chair was found here, for sale by Debbie, in the lower PORCH level. I kept looking at it, admiring it's burnt pink velvet~Pretty soon, I was thinking about covering it with the brooch collection~
Perfect! Soft, pretty, cushy velvet to show them off~

This brooch collection includes all new pieces - from $5.95 to $12.95

One is even dangling from a pink ribbon, off to the left~

Pairing pieces that have nothing in common is fun - this worked out pretty well. And, I noticed that just about everyone here on Sunday afternoon stopped to browse. Fun for me!

Our JULY Market is OPEN

~It's just great here today! A full shop is waiting for you, and the weather has been glorious here all week~We brought more in last night~
Like this tall black mirror - great on the floor as a dressing mirror.

The pair of stands from Sunday's load

I like twin furniture, these are newer and in perfect shape, and sold separately

Twin black tables with two shelves- you can place them together to make a square, or use them on their own; also sold separately~

And, a new Alan piece has arrived! You've liked this size (I'll get the measurements).

Two drawers, stationary shelf, beadboard all around, and a granite top; $249.

Picture this vintage floral stand in full-bloom glory - the buckets filled with jars of fresh blooms. 24 papier mache floral buckets on a folding black wire stand. $69.

Granite ovals have been restocked~ Many natural, gorgeous colors.

What do you do with them? Well, you love to tell me stories about how you use them, and one favorite is that they make a beautiful statement when gathering up everything to serve wine.

OK, this photo is from Tuesday morning. We decided to add an extra welcome with cold refreshments - we appreciate you! Here is that same table area last night - full of items for you to entertain with. Note the 14 stemmed liqueurs on the round tray~
So much more to show you, alot is happening here this week! Shop hours this week are shown on the right sidebar, thank you - TERESA
