This week at The PORCH & Atelier~

We just wrapped up our January 2010 Market~
We had a great time, and we're SO pleased that many of you ventured out and stopped by - thank you! We know that alot of people couldn't make it, and there is still great stuff here, SO----both The PORCH & Atelier levels will be open this week: Thu-Fri-Sat, January 14-15-16, 10-5.

The photos today were taken in the Atelier in early 2009 - so, the pieces are all long-gone. One of my favorite Atelier shots: a stack of frames in front of a French print.
I do love to look at beautiful architectural details - I hope you do, too

Details: closeup of drawers on a petite chest

We're always looking ahead, and can't wait to move on. This week at the shop there will be alot of behind-the-scenes work: painting, moving, cleaning, organizing.

We loved these reproduction jars: the graphic is from an original antique Angers jar - oh my, Angers is our favorite French city!

Whatever we do will be fresh for you. We always receive a huge greenhouse plant delivery in January: petite babies tears, ivies and tiny ferns - perfect for glass jar gardening.
Enjoy your day~ TERESA

Vintage & Gracie - we have fun here~

'Gracie' was at the shop yesterday, and was too-cute, modeling our vintage pink tulle apron~ Satin ribbon ties, and a sequined heart on the front.Gracie felt shy~
Gracie was quite proud of her look, and totally irresistible - may I take her photo?
Gracie with her Mom
Gracie brings Mom and Grandma to shop with her, every month for a while now-- pretty nice for us~ She's always dressed oh-so-cute and loves to shop~
As Gracie was leaving, she was asked if she was going dancing ---'no! this is my apron!'

Henry (grandson) with my daughter, Rachel
Henry wouldn't join in the fun, but was watching it all from a very interested distance~

A 'petite' mix for you today

Let's begin with some green today. We're hungry for it~
There's usually more cohesiveness in my posts, today we'll stretch that a bit.
I do love this lantern from the Sunday 12/26 load

A restock of our popular tin magnet boards, there's a vertical style, too - both hung from fresh striped ribbon & include two fleur de lis magnets. $8.95 (remember the 20% sale, too).
Comfy, soft, feminine - and that pretty blue again~

You'll meet Brenda if you come on a Market Thursday~
And, Annemarie. I'm proud to work with the talented, special people here with me. Lisa and Stephanie.... I'll get you next time~Bling! Newer candelabra pair
More tin book stands have arrived~A favorite of ours, too. The 'Joy of Cooking' has great graphics, doesn't it?
Baubles & more bling
Great trunk, new restock. If you see it here, check out it's unique spring latch hardware. She'll be cleaned and waxed today~
For the caller interested in bookcases available, we have two choices today: #1: 81" tall, 52# wide.

#2

We'll begin and end with green today - even 'faux' is great right now~ Tres' petite topiaries: two styles, in cute pots, $4.95. Add one or more to that new, fresh vignette you're creating at home.

January Fresh

January. I'm hearing alot of excited talk about freshening up at home. The tree and decorations are out, leaving a fresh palette. Stop by the shop this week and find something to inspire one new vignette in your home~a quick re-do, that will give you pleasure each time you pass.
The weather makes us feel like hibernating, and the weather reports predicted more snow and wind today. But, outside my office window this morning (third floor apartment of the Porch & Atelier building), the traffic is clipping right along.

A 'warm welcome' to you - we have good coffee and hot tea, a cozy atmosphere, and a hot 20% discount off marked prices. Just don't feel like hauling anything out to your vehicle? We're happy to help you load all your stuff! Hoping to see you! Open today through Sunday (Thu-Fri-Sat {9-5}, Sun {12-5})

PART DEUX January 5-6-7-8-9-10 Market photos

Close-up of the chandelier reflected in the mirror~

Lots and lots of small stuff is here, for sure.

Frames, tables, mirrors...oops, the chandelier isn't lit!

This newly-upholstered velvet chair is one of my favorites - very comfortable, with a soft down seat cushion.

Lots of fresh whites, and can you see the petite white island cabinet with drawer, door, and shelves on the left? $39 less 20%. Bring your calculators~

We have a new jewelry maker; Cassie displays in the lower PORCH level. Gemstones and beautiful technique. It's hard to see here, but the bracelet on the left has little maps in each frame.

I love hanging a chandelier at eye level~

Atelier photos to come~

Part One: January Market Photos

We're stacking, styling and fitting it all in~
Working by color, showing it all off to its best advantage
This piece had a former life as an old built-in cabinet. Nicely sized, she's been restyled with new sides, glass, and a built-up base.

The January 3rd Sunday load is inside, still to be unpacked. The mirror stand is missing it's mirror, and will make a great sign frame.

Schlampp's ad in a gorgeous old detailed frame - the content is very appropos for this weather~ Sorry about the glare - they're calling the sale a 'clearaway'. We could say that, too - everything is 20% off at our January Market.

Porch entry hall in the lower level. That's an old, long, paperhanger's folding table on the right~
The paneled door has five chalkboards, yet to get some chalk writing~
The four white metal chairs are in great shape, and $24 for all four (less 20%!).
When you're here, be ready to do some math - take 20% off all marked prices~
A favorite - embossed glass in the hanging window. I found the wire trellis insert cabinet doors just yesterday.
Windows, an old milkhouse rack, and four architectural panels~

One of the freshly painted areas - the lower level checkout area. I found four new square tin pieces when cleaning a closet - eh voila~ a magnet board for yet-to-post checkout signs.
Metallic is 'in' - I love how bright it feels. Yes, the hot tea and coffee will be ready for you when you come~

You'll see alot of soft blues and silvers, making January here fresh and comfortable.
You'll also find crisp black, red, and more. We've snuck in a few Valentines, too~
Vintage valentines - the photo inset shows the three-dimensional detail of the green valentine.

I love botanical prints all year, but they feel extra 'appropriate' and fresh in January. These prints are new, come in five styles, and their frames are soft, weathered black. An observant eye has already spied one of these prints in the February Country Living magazine. See if you can find it~

There's a whole lot more, watch for more photos! TERESA
